Pharrell Williams says cousin was shot, killed by police in Virginia Beach
Virginia Beach, Va. — Musician Pharrell Williams said he had a relative killed by police in Virginia beach, Virginia last weekend.
On Twitter, Williams wrote that his cousin Donovan Lynch was killed amid violence.
“The loss of these lives is a tragedy beyond measure,” Williams’ tweet read. “My cousin Donovon was killed during the shootings. It is critical my family and the other victims’ families get the transparency they deserve. Va beach is the epitome of hope and we will get through this.”
There were several shootings in Virginia Beach late on Friday, one of which involved an officer. Lynch and 29-year-old Deshayla Harris were killed. Eight people were injured in total.
Authorities said Lynch showed a gun when police came into contact with him.
An investigation is underway. A memorial is being planned for Lynch Tuesday night.
