Two men, who police believe are brothers, have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a shooting on a remote property in the NSW Hunter region.

Police were called to a property at Bingleburra Road, Bingleburra, after reports of a shooting at about midday.

One man, aged 35, was found with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The younger man, aged 28, had run away from the scene but was found nearby with a gunshot wound to his head, believed to be self-inflicted.
